Where does the band perform?

Perth Concert Band stages its own concerts throughout the year, as well as performing at many regular and one-off events. The band usually takes part in the Anzac Day Parade in central Perth and the annual RAC Channel 7 Christmas Pageant.

The band also performs at fairs and open days as well as at several carols by candlelight functions and in shopping centres over the Christmas period. The band also undertakes intrastate trips and played in the Margaret River region during Easter 2002, including a concert at Leeuwin Estate.

Where does the band rehearse?

Rehearsals are held from 8pm to 10pm on Tuesday nights at Mount Lawley Senior High School. Members are expected to arrive by 7.45pm and have their instruments warmed up for a prompt 8pm start.

Uniforms and Equipment

Formal Uniform

Comprises of a red Perth Concert Band blazer, a red tie and a black hat. These items are teamed with a white men’s business shirt (no blouses) buttoned to the collar, black dress trousers, black socks or stockings and black dress shoes (preferably lace-up or court shoes).

Indoor Concert Uniform

"All Black" uniform to be used for own indoor concerts. Uniform consists of neat semi-formal dress trousers/pants/skirt, black shirt/top (open neck acceptable), black dress shoes, black socks/stockings.

Casual Uniform

The Band has a casual uniform consisting of a polo t-shirt which is to be worn with black pants and shoes. The shirt is available for purchase and members will be advised when this is required for engagements.


Instruments

The band owns a variety of brass, woodwind and percussion instruments which members can apply to use.

Terms and Conditions of Loan

The following terms and conditions apply to instruments on loan:

  1. An instrument bond is required to be paid before any issue of an instrument can be made.
  2. The bond is non-refundable should the property not be returned in reasonable condition.
  3. I agree to accept FULL responsibility for the care and maintenance of the instrument and/or equipment.
  4. I agree to undertake, regularly, the service of instruments/equipment, and to accept responsibility for damage and repairs to the said property (including instrument case).
  5. I agree to notify the Property Officer of any damage to said property. The Property Officer will arrange or sanction repairs to the property. The cost of the repairs will be at my expense, unless under exceptional circumstances, the Committee agrees otherwise.
  6. I acknowlege that all equipment and instruments remain the property of the Perth Concert Band (inc.) and are not to be used for any other purpose other than that associated with the Perth Concert Band, unless specifically authorised in writing by the Management Committee.
  7. I agree to return all instruments / equipment to the Perth Concert Band Property Officer, forthwith;
    • On resignation from the Perth Concert Band.
    • On leave from Perth Concert Band exceeding three (3) months
    • At the request of the Property Officer or Management Committee
  8. All band owned instruments are to be returned at the conclusion of the final Band engagement of each year for the purpose of an annual inspection.
